Drought Eradication- Our Contribution:

Water scarcity in Maharashtra has reached to critical condition. Nearly 5.92 crore litres of water was provided to  water-starved residents across Maharashtra daily. It has given rise to tanker mafias and fake billings. Today Maharashtrians from Marathwada and Vidarbha regions feel the dire need of water conservation as they can visualise their future in the upcoming days. We do not forget our aim of all round sustainable rural development. Watershed Development Programme started in 1992 by SSM still contributes a lot for this social cause. Below are details of tasks under taken-

Four Cement Barrages in Sagroli and Bolegaon areas which  were damaged and left unmaintained for years are repaired this year. These barrages were desilted caballing them to store 18 TMC water.

Eighteen Gabion Barrages were made in the watercourse of Siddhappa Nullah that was deepened and widened in 2015 by SSM. It resulted in raising water table and restoring the precious liquid.

Three lakes in Sagroli, Shimpala and Ajani were desilted under the Gal Mukta Dharan-Gal Uktya Shivar Scheme of Maharashtra Government. SSM availed its JCB for this task of desilting. Nearly 12886 cubic meter silt was transported to 43 acres of farms nearby making it more yielding. Besides the lakes will have now additional storage of 128 lakhs litre water.

Soil and water conservation works were started at Katkalamba and Hottal under Rural Infrastructure Developments Fund of NABARD. The task initiated in April 2019 is well accomplished by SSM as 133 hectors built-up is completed out of 576 hectors. At Katkalamba embankment task over 69 hectors is in progress. Under RIDF of NABARD, involving rural community, on the slopes of hills continuous bunds and trenches are dug to check water gushing down. Down on farm areas check dams and gabion structures are erected to force water into ground. It prevents soil erosion and improves land moisture regime.

Being Human

It is a common sight to see Nagnath, a weaver working in his small cell of hand-loom passing the shuttles back and fourth through the shed, between the yarn threads in order to weave fabrics in the front yard of Anandi Gopal Goshala until you see his quality cotton products required in everyday life. He is known for his praiseworthy skill of weaving towels, garments and handkerchiefs.
It was really surprising when he told that he has been in New Delhi to attend five days Vastra Mela which was organised by Ministry Of Textile, Government Of India where he marketed his products besides received an order of Rupees 50,000 from various parts of India.
Nagnath Govind Kalaskar who hails from Hottal village of Degloor Tehasil shifted to Sagroli with his wife and three daughters before three years. It is when he coincidently met Pramodji who was on a visit to Hottal. Depressed Nagnath decided to try his lucky as he could hardly make both ends meet either in Bhiwandi or in Degloor. He was provided with everything required to start his small scale business named as Dattakrupa Hand-loom Industry. His wife got employed in a hostel run by SSM. Girls were admitted in SSM school for further education.
He feels satisfied over his shift to Sagroli as his income hiked from Rupees 5000 to 9000/ month. He also mentioned that he has almost repaid loan which he borrowed from private money lenders. Last year his daughter got married and second got engaged this year. At last when he was asked “ What are your feelings at this stage of life?” He replied, “ Before shifting to Sagroli I was almost psychologically disabled as I felt that no hopes were  left in my life. Pramodji has really helped me a lot to stand on my own. I feel fortunate to have met him and the meeting proved to be a life changing for me.”

Vanmahotsav In Sagroli

As a part of the 33 crore Tree Plantation Programme within Maharashtra in the third consecutive year 2019, more than 1000 saplings have been planted at the foothills of Balaghat in the presence of Shri Arun Dongare, District Collector of Nanded and Shri Ashish Thakare, the Deputy-Forest Conservator of Nanded Division.

Earlier on the same day an Integrated Vendors Stalls in Sagroli have been inaugurated by District Magistrate Shri Arun Dongare. IVS constructed jointly by NABARD and SSM on raised platforms along the Sagroli Lake is the result of an acute need felt to relocate the much over-crowded and congested weekly market yard of Sagroli that caused frequent traffic jam and sometimes even minor accidents. Now vendors and traders are glad to have their own rightful and convenient place for weekly bazar day.

Water Tank Installation

Water tanks of three thousand liters have been installed at various drought hit villages including Sawargaon(P), Jamb(K), Beli(K) Lakhutanda, Abadinagar and Gawandgaon Tanda. It is a joint welfare task shared by Cooper Corporation, Satara and Sanskriti Samvardhan Mandal.
